AMT School Srinagar is one of the premier Institution in Union Territory of J&K. It was established in the year 1965 in the premises of SMHS Hospital Kaksarai Karan Nagar Srinagar. It is headed by Principal AMT School under the chairmanship of Principal/Dean Government Medical College Srinagar, affiliated with J&K Nursing & Paramedical Council, GMC Srinagar. AMT School Srinagar is the only institution in the valley which is under the UT of Health & Medical Education Department while as rest of AMT Schools in public sector are under the Governance of UT Health department.
AMT School Srinagar is rendering training of General Nursing & Midwifery three years & GNM (LE) two year course besides Medical Assistant, Dental Assistant, Laboratory Assistant, X-Ray Assistant, ECG Technology, Dialysis Technology, Anaesthesia Technology, Operation Theatre Technology, ISM pharmacist and Sanitary Inspector two years Courses. The school is having an intake capacity of 520 students in total - 128 for General Nursing & Midwifery 3 years course and 28 for GNM lateral entry 2 years course and 360 for Paramedical 2 years Courses .The students get evidence based practice in all fields of health care. Students are offered with an all-round developmental opportunity through classroom teaching ,Laboratory Practices ,seminars ,Workshops, symposiums and various Clinical experiences in different Associated Hospitals like Bone & Joint Hospital, children hospital; Chest Disease Hospital, Psychiatric Diseases Hospital, L.D Hospital & Super Speciality Hospital which are under the control of Principal/Dean GMC Srinagar.
