It is my privilege to introduce the Postgraduate Department of Pharmacology, which has came into existence since the establishment of Government Medical College Srinagar in year 1959. The Department has the honor of producing many postgraduates who turned out to be the stalwarts of the medical fraternity.

department of Pharmacology which was setup in J and K amongst the other Medical Institutions. The Department has came a long way from mere teaching of undergraduate and postgraduate students to that of the department of excellence, where it can be seen  

at par  

with departments of other national institutions. We have been able to set up Pharmacovigilance centre within the department where different ADRs are being collected from the clinical side and being forwarded to IPC for further processing and annually a good number of ADRs are being collected and forwarded. The HPLC lab has been setup in the department where different drug estimations are being carried out which is helpful in providing the medical care of excellence by the GMC.

   We look forward to uplift the department to many newer heights to keep pace with the prime Indian health care Institutions in the near future.
