Welcome to the Department of Pediatrics at Government Medical College (GMC) Srinagar, a centre of excellence dedicated to pediatric healthcare. Our hospital offers comprehensive medical services to cater to the unique needs of children from birth through infancy to childhood to adolescence.

Besides providing general paediatricand neonatal care, our department hosts a wide range of sub-specialties, ensuring addressal of complex medical conditions with precision and expertise. Our specialitiesinclude Paediatric Neurology, PaediatricGastroenterology,Paediatric Cardiology, Paediatric Ophthalmology, Paediatric Radiology,Paediatric Microbiology,Paediatric Hematology,Paediatric NephrologyPaediatric Orthopedics and Nutrition. These specialised services allow us to offer advanced, targeted treatments, ensuring comprehensive care for every child thereby reducing referrals outside UT.

Our Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) and Paediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) provide round-the-clock care for critically ill neonates, infants and children, supported by a dedicated team of highly trained professionals.

At the Department of Pediatrics, we are focused on providing DM/DNB/Fellowship programs in various Pediatric Sub-specialities in addition to providing MBBS and MD Pediatrics training. The department has already started Fellowship Programmes in Pediatric Neurology and Neonatology.Our department is committed to advancing paediatric medicine through innovative research aimed at improving child health outcomes and addressing emerging challenges in paediatrics.

We are also fortunate to have an upgraded District Early Intervention Centre (DEIC), fully equipped for thecomprehensive management of children with neuropsychological and neurodevelopmental challenges. Through early detection, intervention, and rehabilitation, we aim to improve outcomes and enhance the quality of life for children with developmental concerns.
