Training

Teaching activities for UG students are carried out as per the CBME mode with Small Group Discussions, Lectures and Seminars. Learning is augmented by visits to sites of Public Health Importance and hands-on learning in the departmental lab. UG students are required to adopt families in the field area under the Family Adoption Program. PG students also undergo a District Residency Programme. Additionally, the Department is also associated with teaching of B.Sc Nursing students. The Department also conducts AETCOM classes in accordance with NMC guidelines.The Department of Community Medicine has been at the forefront in conducting workshops and CMEs.The Department has conducted 16 Research Methodology Workshops and recently conducted workshops on Qualitative Research and Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis as well. Additionally, trainings are regularly conducted in the field practice area on various areas of public health importance including National Health Programmes, Immunization, Biomedical Waste Management, Inventory Management, COVID-19 Safety Measures, U – WIN, Basic Life Support and Geriatric Healthcare.The Department in collaboration with ECHO (Extension for Health Care Outcomes) India provides a platform for trainings of healthcare workers regarding various aspects that would enhance and optimize service delivery at the peripheral level.The Department also conducted a series of Guest Lectures where prominent members from other spheres were invited to speak and share their experiences and expertise pertaining to various facets that affect and mold our society. This activity is also in alignment with the goal of promoting Inter-Sectoral Co-ordination.Additional ActivitiesThe Department conducts regular Health Camps within its’ field practice area as well as underserved areas, collaborating with other departments to ensure provision of specialist services, free medicines and diagnostics. The Department observes various World Health Days of Public Health importance in college and Block Hazratbal with involvement of PG as well as UG students.
