Services provided:
- We provide anaesthesia services to all the surgical and allied departments of GMC Srinagar and its Associated hospitals.
- We provide procedural sedation services in various NORA suites.
- We run critical care units in smhs,ssh,Bnj and LDH hospitals.
- We run anaesthesia OPD services in SMHS,SSH,LDH,BNJ and Paediatric hospitals.
- We run Pain and palliative services in smhs hospital ,both opd and day care.
- Provide emergency and urgent services during natural disaster ,VIP movements & Yatra services.
- The department is a part of ICMR project to build palliative care serivices in 10 district hospitals of North India.
ACADEMIC AND TRAINING PROGRAMS
- MD anaesthesia 35 postgraduates per year
- DrNB critical care medicine 2 students per year
- FNB trauma and critical care 3students per year
- FNB paediatric anaesthesia 4 students per year
- Undergraduate training of MBBS course as per the new CBME curriculum,180 students per year.
- BSc Anaesthesia course 08 students per batch.
- Diploma anaesthesia course 21 students per batch.
- Pain and palliative care medicine is a recognised regional centre for Kashmir- Cancer training centre AIIMS(CTC3)by Indian Association of palliative care.
- Publications of research work in different indexed journals by
- Faculty as well as residents.
HIGH END EQUIPMENT:
Department of Anaesthesia and critical care is in possession of latest high end anaesthesia workstations and icu ventilators.
We have two fibro optic Bronchoscopes,Video laryngoscopes in almost all OT’S ,USG machines in all hospitals,Transport ventilators in every facility, Portable x ray plants available in SMHS,SSH and LDH ICU’S, Paediatric vein finders,ETT CUFF pressure monitoring devices, BIS, ENTROPY & NMM monitoring ,Rapid infusion pumps, Cell Savers ,Defibrillators in all ICU’S and OT’S.
We also have three critical care ambulances, one in smhs one in LD and one in ssh which are fully equipped.
NEWER PROCEDURES INDUCTED:
- USG guided Regional blocks which are now routinely performed for analgesia and chronic and cancer pain management.
- Scalp Block for Awake craniotomies.
- Awake fiberoptic oral intubation in cervical dislocation.
- Awake fiberoptic nasal intubation in TM joint ankylosis.
- Fiberoptic aided Percutaneous Tracheostomies in ICU’S.
- Anaesthesia for Bariatric surgeries.
- Anaesthesia for Laser surgeries.
- Use of Thoracic segmental spinals in patients having high risk under General anaesthesia.
- USG guided neuraxial blocks in obese and diffiicult spines.
- POCUS in TRAUMA and Icu patients.
- Difficult cannulations (PICC,IV cannulas,CVC insertion), and difficult Ryle’s tube insertion
- Attweend assesment calls & perform CPR’S in different areas of the hospital
- Shifting of sick intubated patients for diagnostic & therupatic procedures in verious associated hospitals.
