About us

We are distinguished by strong faculty with a broad multidisciplinary approach to Public Health and Community Service. Our Department is a diverse, robust, interdisciplinary academic department with programs focused on Education and Training, Patient Care, Community Health, and Research. We are devoted to the promotion of Public Health through education, research, population-based and patient-centered advocacy, shaping health policy, and community service.

The department is fully equipped with a Demonstration room, Seminar Hall, well informative Museum, Departmental library and Public Health Lab.

Departmental Library:

The library is maintained with latest editions of books of Community Medicine and allied subjects, it contains also latest journals, Annual reports, publications of Department of Health Services and various publications of WHO and other national and international organizations.

Museum:

A big hall equipped with sufficient models, specimens and charts on relevant subjects of Community Medicine and Public health importance.

Public Health Lab:

The department has fully equipped Public Health Laboratory including entomology laboratory for teaching and training of students. The lab is fully equipped with Instruments/Equipments including Self Recording Rain Gauge, Spectrophotometer, Water & Soil Analyser ,Binocular Microscope, Hot Air Oven, Horizontal Laminar Air flow, Combined Sampler Envirotech, Spirometer, Personal  Sampler Envirotech, Horrocks Apparatus, Barometer, Centrifuge clinic, Autoclave, Incubator, Centrifuge, Chloroscope, Nephlometer/Turbidity meter, Handy Sampler Envirotech etc.

Seminar Room:

The department has a seminar hall well equipped with LCD projector, screen along with sound system.

Demonstration Room:

The department has a big demonstration room equipped with Audio-visual aids, LCD, Overhead projector and slide projector.

• North India Unit of the International Network of UNESCO Chair in Bio-Ethics.
• Kashealth – A Public Health Awareness Initiative.
• Model Rural Health Research Unit (MRHRU) PHC Khag (RHTC).
• Rabies Epidemiological Unit & Research Centre.
• Under five clinic.
• Preventive medicine clinic and clinical epidemiology.
• Administrative Control of field practice area of Medical Education Block Hazratbal.
