  • Social workers for maintaining liaison between patients and their families. They also play a pivotal role in tracing unknown patients’ whereabouts.
  • Ambulance services for dropping patients without attendants to their homes. Ambulance services for referral to other associated hospital of GMC.
  • Occupational Therapist to facilitate recreation of chronic Patients.

Facilities available at Community General Hospital Unit (CGHU) , SMHS Hospital Complex

• General Psychiatric OPD (Daily 10am-4pm)
• Weekly Specialized Child Psychiatry Clinics (Thursdays)
• 24 x 7 psychiatric emergency services
• Special emphasis on Drug De-addiction with provision of counselling and de-addictions services on OPD and IPD basis. Oral Substitution Therapy (OST) in collaboration with J&KSACS is also provided.
• IPD facilities (30 beds), separate male and female wards. Recreational hall with mini gym and indoor sports facilities (table tennis, carom, ludo, chess etc.) are available for patients.
• Availability of Occupational therapist and other supportive staff.
