The hospital had been established in the year 1880 in pre independence period by foreign occupants. The hospital located in Dalgate area of Srinagar over area of 37 kanal and 15 marlas is the lone hospital for chest related diseases. Raised on Rustam Giri Hillocks, the hospital was a sanatorium where Tuberculosis patients were supposed to inhale fresh air, for there were no anti- biotic available that time to cure these patients.

Over the years this hospital was developed and buildings were constructed from time to time and all state of art facilities have been made available to cure all chest related diseases.
